Job Overview
The Department invites suitably qualified and reliable candidates to apply for the position of Cleaner within the Records Management & Auxiliary Services Directorate, based at the Head Office in Polokwane. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and orderly working environment in accordance with departmental standards.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification
- ABET / AET / Grade 10, as recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Sound and in-depth knowledge of housekeeping and cleaning services.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment and materials.
- Strong teamwork and cooperation skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of offices and workspaces.
- Dust, polish, and wax office furniture.
- Sweep, scrub, and wax floors.
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets and floor surfaces.
- Clean walls, windows, doors, corridors, elevators, and passages.
- Clean and sanitise restrooms daily, including toilets and handwashing areas.
- Refill consumables such as toilet paper where required.
- Empty, clean, and wash waste and dirt bins regularly.
- Clean office equipment and appliances such as microwaves and vacuum cleaners after use.
- Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are kept in good condition.
- Report broken or faulty cleaning equipment and materials promptly.
- Maintain general cleanliness and hygiene standards in all assigned areas.
