General Assistant Job Overview
A General Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized retail environment. Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least 1 year of work experience, OR
- Grade 12 (Matric) with no experience required
- Ability to communicate in English and a local language

- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Duties
- Assist customers with product selection and queries
- Resolve customer complaints efficiently and professionally
- Deliver a positive in-store shopping experience
Merchandising and Stock Control
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked according to store layout and planograms
- Maintain proper shelf price labelling
- Organize bulk stock safely within designated areas
Housekeeping and Store Maintenance
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and accessible to customers
- Ensure stock is packed and displayed immediately after receiving
- Complete daily operational checklists
Health and Safety Compliance (OHSA)
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
- Ensure customer and staff safety within the store
- Report hazards or safety concerns to management
Stock Loss Prevention
- Report damaged or missing stock to the Store Manager
- Assist in minimizing stock loss and shrinkage
