Salary Package

The successful candidate will receive an all-inclusive remuneration package of R1 059 105 per annum (Level 12).

The appointed candidate will be required to enter into a Performance Agreement with the Director: Integrated Security Management.
All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a competency assessment as part of the recruitment and selection process.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Director: Vetting Services is responsible for managing and coordinating provincial vetting and security screening services to ensure that personnel meet the required security clearance standards.

The role focuses on the implementation of vetting policies, coordination of investigations, liaison with the State Security Agency (SSA), validation of security clearances, and provision of technical advisory support to government departments.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

  • An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7 in:
    • Security Management
    • Security Risk Management
    • Policing
    • or a related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience at Junior Management level.
  • Proven experience in vetting services will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop, manage, and implement policies, guidelines, norms, and standards for vetting and investigations related to security clearance levels.
  • Manage the execution of vetting fieldwork investigations.
  • Coordinate and manage screening and vetting services within the province.
  • Liaise with the State Security Agency (SSA) regarding:
    • Evaluation of collected information
    • Issuance of security clearance certificates
    • Withdrawal, downgrading, or refusal of security clearances
  • Monitor and validate existing security clearances.
  • Provide technical and advisory support services to provincial departments.
  • Manage the provision of administrative support services within the directorate.
